Biman ex-CEO Shafiqur on remand

A Dhaka court has placed four people, including former managing director and chief executive officer of Biman Bangladesh Airlines Shafiqur Rahman and his wife Bithi, on remand in a case over the alleged abuse of an 11-year-old child domestic worker.

The other two accused are Rupali Khatun and Mosammat Sufia Begum, both domestic workers employed at the couple’s residence.

Following a hearing on Tuesday, the court of Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Md Zakir Hossain granted five days’ remand for Shafiqur Rahman, seven days for his wife Bithi, five days for Rupali Khatun and six days for Mosammat Sufia Begum.
