‘BNP will govern on people’s mandate’

BNP Standing Committee Member and Minister of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Iqbal Hasan Mahmud Tuku said BNP has come to power with the mandate of the people and the government will remain in power as long as it has the people’s mandate. “No threats will do,” he said.

He said this while addressing a meeting as the chief guest organised by the conference preparation committee of Sirajganj district BNP on Saturday afternoon to protest what the organisers described as countrywide anarchy and conspiracy.

The minister also said, “Jamaat-e-Islami, who make controversial remarks about the Messenger or the prophets, how do they practise Islam? Jamaat-e-Islami is not really Islam.”

Thanking the countrymen for their patience amid the power and energy crisis, Tuku said, “When there is a problem with power and gas, we go to the people.

You have been patient, and by the grace of Allah, we have solved the problem.”
