Master wins big screen award at Rotterdam Film Festival

Bangladeshi film Master has won the prestigious Big Screen Award at the 55th edition of the International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR).

The film competed in the festival’s ‘Big Screen Competition’ section against 12 other films and secured the award. The film’s director, Rezwan Shahriar Sumit, confirmed the victory from Rotterdam, Netherlands, on Friday night.

The film features performances by Azmeri Haque Badhan, Zakia Bari Mamo, Nasir Uddin Khan, Fazlur Rahman Babu, Lutfor Rahman George, Sharif Siraj, and several others.

Along with the award, the film received a prize money of 15,000 euros (over 2.1 million Bangladeshi Taka).

Additionally, 15,000 euros were awarded to the distributor who acquired the Dutch distribution rights for the film. In total, the Bangladeshi film Master earned more than 4.3 million Taka in prize money.

It is worth noting that, for the first time, three Bangladeshi films- Delupi, Roid, and Master- participated in different sections of the festival’s official selection this year.
