Serious allegations against K-pop star

South Korea’s National Tax Service (NTS) is investigating K-pop band Astro member Cha Eun-woo for alleged tax evasion of around 200 billion won ($13.7 million).

He has not yet been charged with a criminal offense, but the controversy has already shaken the advertising industry, with several agencies canceling their contracts with him.

According to a report by Gulf News, the country’s tax office claims that a portion of Cha Eun-woo’s entertainment income was shown through a company registered in the name of her mother.

According to authorities, this income distribution is clever, and as a result, its total tax rate is reduced by more than 20 per cent.
