Protests in Sylhet over blocking of adviser’s car :4 Jubodal JCD leaders sent to jail

The court has ordered to send four leaders of Chhatra Dal and Jubo Dal to jail in a case filed in connection with the protest that blocked the convoy of two advisers in Sylhet.
The Sylhet District and Sessions Judge Court gave the order on Monday afternoon. Earlier, the accused surrendered and applied for bail.
The imprisoned leaders are – Gowainghat’s Purba Jaflong Union Chhatra Dal President Azir Uddin, Senior Vice President Sumon Sikder, District Chhatra Dal Joint General Secretary Sohel Ahmed, and Upazila Jubo Dal former Joint Convener Zahid Khan. Zahid Khan was recently expelled from the party.
Sylhet District and Sessions Judge Court Public Prosecutor (PP) Ashiq Uddin confirmed the matter.
He said that the four were on four-week bail from the High Court. After the bail, they surrendered to the court on Monday and applied for bail again. Later, the court rejected their bail application and ordered them to be sent to jail.
On the morning of June 14, Syeda Rizwana Hasan, Advisor on Environment, Forest and Climate Change, and Muhammad Fawzul Kabir Khan, Advisor on Power, Energy and Mineral Resources, went to inspect the Jaflong area. On the way back, sand and stone traders and workers stopped their convoy in the Ballaghat area of ​​Gowainghat.
At that time, they raised slogans demanding the reopening of stone quarries in Sylhet including Jaflong. In the case filed in this incident, 9 people were named in the case, along with 100-150 unidentified people.
On the night of June 15, the day after the incident, SI Obaid Ullah of Gowainghat Police Station filed a case as the plaintiff. The case charged them with obstructing government work, impounding and blocking vehicles. In addition to the names of 9 people, 100-150 people were named as unidentified accused.
