World Post Day observed with focus on integrated postal network
World Post Day 2026 is being observed in Bangladesh and elsewhere in the world with week-long programmes highlighting the potential of an integrated postal network and technology-driven services.
This year’s theme is “Integrated Postal Network, Limitless Possibilities”, according to a press release issued by the Department of Posts.
The department organised a discussion at the Postal Building in Agargaon, Dhaka, on Friday to mark the occasion.
Bilkis Jahan Rimi, secretary to the Posts and Telecommunications Division, attended the programme as the chief guest, while Department of Posts Director General Kazi Asadul Islam chaired it.
As part of the World Post Day programmes, regular postal services, excluding savings bank operations, are being provided today and tomorrow at post offices at all levels.
Postal Service Week is also being observed nationwide from October 9 to 15.
A special letter festival has been arranged at Cox’s Bazar Sea Beach as part of the week’s celebrations. Letter festivals, philatelic exhibitions and postal service fairs have also been organised at various universities across the country.
The Department of Posts said the programmes aim to bring fast and affordable services to people’s doorsteps by using modern technology and the country’s extensive postal network.
Bangladesh Post is working to transform itself into a modern, technology-driven, efficient and people-friendly logistics service institution while continuing its traditional postal services, the department added.
