Tangail Man Missing After Canal Dive

A man named Falu Mia (55) has gone missing after reportedly drowning while fishing in a canal in Mirzapur upazila of Tangail.

The incident occurred around 9:00 AM on Tuesday at the Postkamuri canal area within the municipal town. Despite rescue efforts, he remained missing till late evening. Falu Mia, son of Elim Uddin from the same area, was a tea shop owner in the Mirzapur market.

According to his family members, Falu Mia went out early in the morning to fish using a traditional fishing net near his home. When the net got entangled in water hyacinth, he entered the water to free it and subsequently went missing.

Upon receiving the news, divers from the Mirzapur and Tangail Fire Service and Civil Defence launched a search operation. However, no trace of him was found as of 7:00 PM.

Mirzapur Fire Station Officer Belayet Hossain confirmed that rescue teams from both Mirzapur and Tangail continued operations until 6:00 PM but were unable to locate the missing man.
