Direct transmission centres of BTV to be set up in divisions
Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu said direct transmission centres of Bangladesh Television (BTV) will be set up in all the divisions of the country.
He said this on Tuesday while speaking as the chief guest at the inaugural session of the Television Programmes Production (Diploma) Course of Bangladesh Film and Television Institute at Darus Salam in the city.
Chief executive of Bangladesh Film and Television Institute Dr Mohammad Jahangir Hossain chaired the function, also attended by information secretary Mortuza Ahmed and course director and former director general of BTV M Hamid as the guests of honour.
The minister said, “The Chittagong centre of BTV will telecast programmes for six hours from March. The programmes can be watched through terrestrial and satellite. BTV’s transmission centres in all the divisional cities will come into operation between 18 months and two years. The government of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is committed to flourish the media. For this reason, BTV’s programmes will run in accordance with the people’s demand. “After setting up of transmission centres in all the divisions, artistes-technicians of these regions can work there highlighting the own cultural scenario of these regions.”
