Bangladesh U-19 women beat Pakistan again

The Bangladesh Under-19 women’s cricket team made a promising start in the tri-nation series by defeating Pakistan Under-19 women’s cricket team in the opening match, though they suffered a loss to Sri Lanka Under-19 women’s cricket team in the second game.

On Tuesday, Sadia Islam and her team faced hosts Pakistan once again in their third match.

After winning this game by 13 runs, Bangladesh Under-19 women’s cricket team have effectively secured a spot in the final.

Batting first at the Iqbal Stadium in Faisalabad, Bangladesh Under-19 women’s cricket team piled up a satisfactory 139 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in their allotted 20 overs.
In reply, the Pakistan Under-19 women’s cricket team were restricted to 126 for the loss of seven wickets in their 20 overs.

Bangladesh faced an early crisis, losing two wickets with just 4 runs on the board.

Contributions from Ochena Jannat (17), Nishita Akter Nishi (20), Captain Sadia Islam (24), an unbeaten Sadia Akter (33), and an unbeaten Farjana Easmin (28) helped the team to post a competitive total of 139. Farjana Easmin was the most successful bowler for Bangladesh.

She claimed 3 wickets in the space of 25 runs in her 4 overs. Farjana Easmin was adjudged the Player of the Match for her all-round performance.

For Pakistan, Rozina Akram and Maham Tariq claimed two wickets each, while Shahar Bano took one wicket.

Pakistan made a solid start to their run chase, scoring 50 runs without losing any wicket in the first six overs.

Their opening partnership appeared to be shifting the momentum in Pakistan’s favour. Ravail Farhan scored 32 off 29 balls, and Komal Khan scored 36 off 29 balls.

Later, Pakistan lost their rhythm quickly after losing their first wicket for 69 runs. Two more wickets fell between the scores of 70 and 71.

Bangladesh fought their way back into the match by taking wickets at regular intervals during the middle overs. Ultimately, Pakistan were restricted to 126 for 7 after 20 overs.

Nishita Akter Nishi captured 2 wickets for 28 runs, and Tithi Das took one wicket for 8 runs.
