PM-led meeting reviews Dhaka’s public transport challenges
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Thursday chaired a meeting to discuss Dhaka’s public transport management, road safety and ways to address disorder in the capital’s transport system.
The meeting began in the morning at the Cabinet Division of the Secretariat, according to a release issued by the Prime Minister’s press wing.
The meeting discussed various issues related to managing public transport in Dhaka, ensuring road safety and resolving the existing disorder in the city’s public transport system.
Road Transport and Bridges Minister Shaikh Rabiul Alam, State Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Mir Shahe Alam, and State Minister for Road Transport and Bridges Habibur Rashid attended the meeting.
Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister ABM Abdus Sattar, Local Government Division Secretary Md Shahidul Hasan, Dhaka Transport Coordination Authority Executive Director Mohammad Mashiur Rahman, Road Transport and Highways Division Secretary Dr Mohammad Ziaul Haque and Dhaka Metropolitan Police Commissioner Mosleh Uddin Ahmed were also present.
The meeting focused on issues surrounding the management of public transport in the capital, measures to improve road safety and efforts to address disorder in the city’s transport system.
