5 shops gutted

At least five shops were gutted on early Sunday in a devastating fire at Zahanabad area of Bhatairy under Sitakunda upazila of the district.
Jashim Uddin, Deputy Assistant Director of Fire Service and Civil Defense in Chattogram, said the fire originated from a cooking oven at a restaurant in the area around 4 am and quickly engulfed the adjoining shops.
Two firefighting units from Sitakunda area rushed to the spot and brought the flame under control around 5.55 am.
