Island nation Sri Lanka beat world champions India by 5 runs in the warm-up match of the ICC World Twenty20 at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on Monday.
Replying Sri Lanka’s 153 runs, India were all out making 148 runs in 20 overs.
Number three batsman Suresh Raina made 41 runs off 31 balls with five boundaries and an over-boundary while Yuvraj Singh scored 33 runs facing 28 deliveries featuring two fours and two sixes, number nine batsman Ravichandran Ashwin scored 19 runs off 12 balls with two fours and a six.
Indian sensation right-handed batsman Virat Kohli returned to the pavilion making 17 runs from 9 balls with a four and a six while Stuart Binny and Ravindra Jadeja made 14 and 12 runs respectively.
Sri Lankan reliable bowler Lasith Malinga claimed four wickets for 30 runs in his 4 overs spell.
Nuwan Kulasekara captured two wickets conceding 37 runs while Rangana Herath, Ajantha Mendis and Sachithra Senanayake took one wicket each for 15, 26 and 26 runs respectively.
Earlier, sent in to bat first, Sri Lanka scored 153 runs for 6 in 20 overs.
Star batsman Mahela Jayawardene scored 30 runs off 20 balls with two fours and two sixes while skipper Dinesh Chandimal made 29 runs off 25 balls, including a four and a six.
Number eight batsman Nuwan Kulasekara scored not out 21 runs off 14 balls featuring a four and two sixes while opener Kusal Perera also made 21 runs off 15 balls with three fours and Thisara Perera scored not out 18 runs off 11 balls with a four and a six.
Ravichandran Ashwin claimed three wickets for 22 runs in his 4 overs spell while Suresh Raina, Varun Aaron and Amit Mishra took one wicket each conceding 12, 14 and 38 runs respectively.
