At least seven Bangladeshis, including women and children, were killed in a road accident in Saudi Arabia on Saturday (November 7) while travelling from Medina to Jeddah.
The accident occurred on a highway when their vehicle reportedly lost control, according to local sources.
Bangladesh’s consul general in Jeddah confirmed the accident on Saturday afternoon.
He said the Bangladesh Consulate had formally requested local authorities to provide details about the casualties in the road accident involving Bangladeshis in Jizan, a city in southwestern Saudi Arabia.
All seven victims were associated with Al Abeir Cold Store Trading Company and hailed from Chakaria upazila of Cox’s Bazar, according to local sources.
The company’s marketing manager, Nuruzzaman, said the deceased included the company’s storekeeper Ziaur Rahman, his two sons and daughter, the wife of forklift operator Ilias, and Alam Shah, a storekeeper working in Makkah, along with his one-month-old daughter.
