Nisho, Mehazabien to star in Rajeev’s debut film ‘Opolok’

Adnan Al Rajeev, a well-known director of television commercials and dramas, is set to make his feature film debut with ‘Opolok’, starring Afran Nisho and Mehazabien Chowdhury in the lead roles.

Rajeev first announced his plans to make a feature film last June but did not reveal its title or cast at the time.

Recently, he confirmed Nisho and Mehazabien’s involvement in the project through a Facebook post.

“My first feature film is ‘Opolok’. It carries the dreams and love of the entire team. Afran Nisho and Mehazabien Chowdhury have now joined this journey,”the director wrote.

He added that the team hopes to make an honest, simple and heartfelt romantic film in which audiences can discover not only love but also something of themselves.

Rajeev also expressed hope that the affection and emotions poured into the film would resonate with viewers.

Early in his career, Rajeev earned praise for directing dramas under the ‘Kache Ashar Golpo’ series. Since then, he has been looking for a pure love story that would work on the big screen.

Sharing details of the screenplay’s development, Rajeev said he had been working on the story for the past year, going through several stages of writing and repeatedly revising the script.

“A few months ago, I finally came up with a draft that felt right to me. Now it is time to bring that story to the screen,” he said.

The director also revealed that several other actors have joined the project alongside Nisho and Mehazabien. He plans to introduce the rest of the cast gradually.

Rajeev is planning to release ‘Opolok’ in theatres next year. He has been working in television commercial production for many years. Last year, his short film ‘Ali’ received a Special Mention from the jury at the 78th Cannes Film Festival.
