Zabihullah seeks unity to build democratic BD
Prime Minister’s Adviser on Public Administration Md Ismail Zabihullah has called on people to remain united in the national interest to build a democratic, prosperous, humane and modern Bangladesh.
Zabihullah, also a member of the BNP Standing Committee, made the call while addressing a discussion meeting as chief guest, organised by the Bangladesh Embassy in Seoul, South Korea, to mark National Revolution and Solidarity Day on November 7, according to a PID release.
He described the Sepoy-People’s Revolution of November 7, 1975, as an important chapter in the country’s history of safeguarding independence, sovereignty and national solidarity.
Under the leadership of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman, the foundation was later laid for the reintroduction of multiparty democracy and the development of a self-reliant Bangladesh, he said.
The adviser said Bangladesh had embarked on a new democratic journey through the long anti-fascist movement, the 2024 student-people’s mass uprising and the national election held on February 12, 2026.
Building a democratic, prosperous, humane and modern Bangladesh under the leadership of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is now a national commitment, he added.
Highlighting South Korea’s development experience, Zabihullah said the country had set an example through education, technology, industrialisation and skilled human resource development.
He stressed the need to apply those experiences to Bangladesh’s development and called for greater cooperation between the two countries in investment, technology transfer and the export of skilled manpower.
Addressing expatriate Bangladeshis, he said they were a driving force of the national economy and representatives of the country’s dignity abroad. Ensuring their rights, security and welfare was one of the government’s key responsibilities, he added.
Bangladesh Ambassador to South Korea Taufiq Islam chaired the programme, while BNP Joint Secretary General and Mymensingh Zila Parishad Administrator Syed Emran Saleh Prince attended as special guest.
Prince said November 7 symbolised Bangladesh’s independence, sovereignty, national unity and patriotism. He stressed that unity and patriotism were essential to overcoming national crises.
Calling for unity around patriotism, democracy, national cohesion and development, he said, “Our identity is one, we are Bangladeshis. Our interest is one, the interest of Bangladesh. Our pledge is one, Bangladesh first.”
The ambassador highlighted the significance of National Revolution and Solidarity Day and praised expatriates for contributing to the country’s development and promoting Bangladesh’s image abroad.
Earlier, the Public Administration Adviser hoisted the national flag at the embassy premises.
Officials and staff of the Bangladesh Embassy, expatriate Bangladeshis in South Korea and representatives from various sectors attended the programme.
