Rural road contractors may face 3-year warranty requirement
A parliamentary standing committee has recommended requiring contractors to provide security deposits as a three-year warranty for rural road construction to help ensure work quality, following a directive from Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.
The Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives made the recommendation at its first meeting on Sunday, chaired by committee chairman AKM Selim Reza Habib.
The committee also called for stronger monitoring of construction projects, stressing that the officials concerned must properly perform their duties to ensure the quality of public works.
