BD U-19 women’s team lost to Lanka

In the first match of the tri-series, Bangladesh U-19 women’s cricket team won by a big margin against hosts Pakistan Under-19 women’s cricket team. The girls also had a chance to win the second match of the group stage.

But Bangladesh lost by 4 wickets in the last over on Monday. Batting first, Bangladesh scored 119 runs for 7 wickets in 20 overs.

In reply, the Sri Lankans won off the last ball.

Bangladesh batted first in the match. Opener Maimuna Nahar was out in the second over of the innings. She scored 1 run off 6 balls.

Another opener, Achena Jannat, came off the bat and scored 16 runs in 24 balls. Meanwhile, Bibi Ayesha could not open the scorebook.

Team leader Sadia Islam formed an important partnership with Nishita Akter Nishi in the fourth wicket stand. Nishi scored 26 runs in 35 balls before being run out.

Sadia played the highest innings of 39 runs in just 22 balls for the team. Sadia Akter scored 18 runs off 18 balls, Farjana Easmin scored 6 runs off 7 balls and Kumari Srabanirani scored 3 runs off 5 balls.

The Sri Lankans also lost wickets early in the chase. Netmi Igbe scored 4 runs off 10 balls. They got a big partnership for the second wicket. Basically, the Sri Lanka Under-19 team got the foundation for victory there.

The highest 48 runs came from the bat of opener Sanjana Kavindi. Besides, Balasuriya scored 21, Manudi scored 11, Mathsara scored 9. Seomini scored 10 and Limansa scored 2 runs.

Nishita Akter Nishi took the highest two wickets for Bangladesh. Besides, Farjana Easmin and Afrin Mim picked up one wicket each.
