President with family at Bangabhaban
Newly elected President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has moved into the official residence at Bangabhaban, accompanied by his wife, Rahat Ara Begum, and family members.
The President arrived at Bangabhaban around 10:30 AM on Sunday (August 21). He was welcomed by a well-turned-out mounted contingent of the Bangladesh Police. Subsequently, the President’s vehicle, escorted by the mounted unit, proceeded to the Credential Ground of Bangabhaban.
There, a smart contingent of the President Guard Regiment (PGR) presented a guard of honour to the President. Subsequently, senior officials of Bangabhaban welcomed the President and his family members with flowers.
Those who extended greetings included the President’s Military Secretary Major General ASM Bahauddin, Secretary of the Public Division AJM Salahuddin Nagari, Press Secretary Sarwar Alam, and Assistant Military Secretary Brigadier General Mohammad Raisul Islam.
After the formalities concluded, the President proceeded to his office, where he exchanged pleasantries with senior officials. Later, he began his official duties at his desk. During this time, he also signed the Bangabhaban visitors’ book.
Earlier, on Friday night, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir was sworn in as the country’s 23rd President at the Durbar Hall of Bangabhaban. Prior to assuming the presidency, Mirza Fakhrul had resided at the official residence on Minto Road in his capacity as a minister.
