Negligence won’t be spared in treatment
Health Minister Sardar Shakhawat Hossain Bokul on Friday said any kind of apathy will not be spared.
“Rigorous action will be taken against those who are involved in medical service negligence,” the minister said while replying to the questions of the journalists after visiting the house of the deceased Kanika Mondal who died due to treatment negligence at Baghutia village under Baharpur union of Baliakandi upazila of Rajbari district on Friday to convey empathy to her family.
Health Minister informed that a five-member probe committee has been at the behest of Health Ministry.
The committee has been asked to submit the report within five-working days. Necessary action will be taken after getting the report.
He said, “The demise of a mother cannot be accepted due to the negligence of the doctor ‘s duty. I came here to convey sympathy to the family. Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, local BNP leaders and the government will stay beside this family”. Health Minister further said the government is working to overcome the loss incurred by the previous government in 17 years.
Various initiatives have been taken to bring healthcare to the doorsteps of the people. Steps are also being taken to modernise all healthcare centers in the country, the benefits of which will benefit the common people.
At that time, the Health Minister personally provided financial assistance of 50,000 taka to Kanika Mondal’s family.
At that time, Rajbari Deputy Commissioner Afroza Parveen, Civil Surgeon Dr. SM Masud, Additional Police Super Shamsul Haque, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Tarif Ul Hasan, Upazila Nirbahi Officer Chowdhury Mustafizur Rahman, Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr. Md. Faruk Hossain, Baliakandi Police Station OC Abdur Rob Talukder, Upazila BNP President Golam Shawkat Siraj, General Secretary Golam Sarwar Bhuiyan and other leaders and activists of various levels were present.
On June 29, Kanika Mondal (35), wife of Ashant Mondal of Baghutia village in Bahrapur union of Baliakandi upazila, gave birth to a baby girl through a cesarean section by Dr. Lakshmi Rani Dutta at Samarita Hospital in Faridpur.
The day after the operation, his stomach swelled. When his condition deteriorated, he was admitted to Ibn Sina Hospital in Dhaka on July 3. There, on July 7, tests found a gauze in her stomach. The gauze was removed through surgery that same day.
Kanika Mondal died while undergoing treatment at the hospital in Kalyanpur area of the capital am on Wednesday (August 19) after a long illness.
