Zonta Club holds meet on gender equality

The Zonta Club of Dhaka IV held a “Meet and Greets” programme on September 10, bringing together club members and Z and Youth Club members to discuss gender equality and the role of young people in social reform.

The event was held under the theme “Zonta Says YES to Gender Equality.” Dr Sania B Mahtab delivered the welcome speech, highlighting the importance of youth participation in advancing gender equality.

She said gender equality was not only a social imperative but also a foundation for women’s economic empowerment. She emphasised the need to remove systemic barriers, protect women from violence and ensure equal access to education and resources to strengthen women’s financial independence.

Dr Mahtab said economically empowered women could contribute to sustainable community development and broader national growth.

Continuing Z and Youth Club President Rania Mustansir outlined her strategic vision and future project plans aimed at empowering young advocates during the new biennium.

The programme was attended by prominent Zontians, including Past District Governor Ztn Naheed Moyeen, Immediate Past President Ztn Naheed Shaheen, Past Presidents Ztn Mahfuza Rashid and Ztn Haseen Firdaus, and Ztn Najmi Moyeen.

They expressed support for the younger generation and their role in promoting gender equality and social change.
