Burn institute launches e-ticketing system

The National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery has introduced an e-ticketing system at its outpatient department (OPD) to reduce patient waiting time and make healthcare services faster and more accessible.

Health and Family Welfare Minister Sardar Md Sakhawat Husain inaugurated the digital service on Saturday, saying the initiative would ease the difficulties faced by patients who previously had to wait in long queues for OPD tickets.

The newly launched e-ticketing system aims to streamline outpatient services by allowing patients to complete registration online and access treatment in a more organised manner. Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Health Minister Sardar Md Sakhawat Husain said patients previously had to arrive at the hospital early in the morning and spend long periods waiting to collect OPD tickets.

The digital system, he said, would reduce such sufferings and help patients receive medical services more quickly.

S M Ziauddin Hyder, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (status of State Minister), Health affairs, attended the inauguration programme. Later, they visited the institute and observed the operation of the newly introduced service.

Under the new system, patients will only need to complete online registration once. Their information will then be securely stored, allowing them to avoid repeated submission of the same details during future visits.

The institute said the system will also preserve previous hospital visit records and treatment histories of patients.

Doctors will be able to access these records, enabling them to provide faster, more accurate and effective treatment, officials said.

The initiative was implemented under the supervision of the institute’s Director, Professor Dr Mohammad Nasir Uddin, as part of efforts to introduce modern, patient-friendly healthcare services.

The National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery is a specialised healthcare facility providing treatment for burn injuries and plastic surgery-related conditions.

The introduction of digital services at the OPD is aimed at improving patient management and reducing delays in accessing healthcare.
