Sheikh Russel seal 2-1 victory over Mohammedan

Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra notched a 2-1 victory over upper hand Mohammedan Sporting Club in the Manyavar Bangladesh Premier Football League at Bangabandhu National Stadium on Wednesday.
Mithun Chowdhury put Sheikh Russel ahead in the first half stopgap time utilising a pass off winger Jahid Hossain. Jahid curled a free kick to Mithun Chowdhury who deflected the ball into the net, 1-0.
Midfielder Hemanta Vincent Biswas doubled the margin by a solo effort in the 82nd minute, 2-0.
Ismael Bangoura reduced the margin for Mohammedan in the stoppage time by a penalty shot, 2-1.
In the 17th minute of the match, Russel winger Jahid Hossain spoiled a chance as his fierce right footer shot went past the Mohammedan side post.
Soon afterwards, Ismael Bangoura missed another chance. He made his way through the Russell defence from left flank, but his right footer was saved by Russell goalie Russell Mahmud Liton.
With the day’s result, Russel earned 26 points from 12 matches while Mohammedan bagged 26 from 13 matches.
