SRB gets new DG

Additional Inspector General (Additional IGP) of Bangladesh Highway Police Faruk Ahmed has been appointed as the new Director General (DG) of the Special Response Battalion (SRB).

The Ministry of Home Affairs issued a notification in this regard on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Md. Ahsan Habib Palash, Director General of the Special Response Battalion (SRB), has been transferred to the Police Headquarters, Dhaka.

A 17th BCS (Police) officer, Faruk joined the Bangladesh Police as an Assistant Police Super (ASP) in 1998.

The Special Response Battalion (SRB) formally begun its operations on September 16 as a specialised unit of Bangladesh Police following the publication of the Special Response Battalion (SRB) Act, 2026 in the gazette.
