‘More trees must be planted to build a new Bangladesh’
Cultural Affairs Minister Nitai Roy Chowdhury on Saturday said more and more trees must be planted to build a new Bangladesh. The current government will plant 250 million trees across the country in 5 years to protect the environment. In light of this, tree planting programs are underway across the country.
We must plant trees to protect the climate and environment. Just as parents nurture their children, we must plant a tree and nurture it. Trees not only give us oxygen. Trees give us various fruits. We get firewood and necessary furniture from trees. Therefore, we must plant more and more fruit, forest and medicinal trees around homes, on wasteland, along rivers, around schools, and in the courtyards of various institutions.
At the inauguration of the tree plantation programme at Magura Police Lines on Saturday afternoon, organised by Magura District Police and Green View Social Media, the minister further said, “For the past 16 years, the fascist government held this country hostage.
There was no law in the country. People were deprived of their fair rights. The common people of this country were victims of exploitation and deprivation. Now is the time to reorganize this country. The current democratic government is working on the security and rights of the people of the country.
In addition, the current government is working to further strengthen social activities in the country. The current government is committed to improving education, health, agriculture, and the environment. No canals were dug in this country during the previous government’s tenure. Therefore, the country’s canals will be dug and revived. If the canals are revived, farmers will survive.”
The event was presided over by District Police Super Molla Azad Hossain and special guests included Khulna Range DIG Mohammad Mostafizur Rahman, Magura Deputy Commissioner Motakabbir Ahmed, District Council Administrator Ali Ahmed, Municipal BNP President Masud Hasan Khan Kizil and Green View Social Development President Md. Ashraful Alam Khan.
