Imranur reaches Asian Games 100m Semi -finals

Imranur Rahman successfully reached the men’s 100-meter Semi-final after clocking 10.49 seconds in his heat on Thursday, Although he couldn’t come close to his personal best at the Nagoya City Mizuho Park Athletic Stadium.

Imranur secured a spot among the top 24 in the qualifying round with a time of 10.49 seconds.

A total of six Heats were held for the 100-meter sprint. Imranur competed in the fifth Heat.

Running alongside him in the same Heat were Hassan Saaid (Maldives), Louis MB (Singapore), Mohd M (Malaysia), Yang C (Chinese Taipei), and Leong L (Macau).

According to the rules, the top three finishers from each Heat advance directly to the semi-finals.

From the Heat winners, the six athletes with the fastest times across all six Heats also qualified for the next round.

Imranur finished fourth in his Heat; he secured a spot in the semi-finals as one of the six fastest non-qualifiers based on time.

Imranur couldn’t come anywhere near his expected time during the qualifying round.

His personal best is 10.11 seconds, and his best time this season is 10.26 seconds. He clocked 10.49 seconds in the Asian Games qualifiers.

Malaysia’s Mohd M. held the advantage in terms of personal best times; his personal best stands at 10.09 seconds.

Both Yang C. of Chinese Taipei and Imranur share a personal best of 10.11 seconds. Consequently, the Bangladeshi sprinter was facing stiff competition.

Having cleared the preliminary round, a greater challenge now lies ahead for Imranur.

Bangladesh’s fastest man will need to run much faster than he did in the qualifying round. Imranur therefore faces the challenge of returning to his best form as early as the Semi-finals.
