KSA keen to boost trade, investment with Bangladesh

Saudi Arabia has expressed strong interest in expanding bilateral trade, investment and business cooperation with Bangladesh, with fresh initiatives aimed at deepening economic engagement between the two countries.

The commitment was highlighted when a delegation of the Saudi Arabia Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SABCCI), led by its President Ashraful Haq Chowdhury, paid a courtesy call on State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaed Islam at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Thursday.

During the meeting, the delegation briefed the State Minister on SABCCI’s ongoing and planned initiatives to strengthen commercial ties, including trade promotion activities, international exhibitions and the organisation of a Bangladesh Saudi Investment Forum in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The delegation also sought the ministry’s support in coordinating with the relevant Saudi authorities to facilitate these initiatives.

Shama Obaed praised SABCCI’s efforts to promote stronger economic cooperation and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting initiatives that enhance Bangladesh Saudi relations.

She highlighted the significant potential for expanding bilateral trade, attracting investment and increasing cooperation in the skilled workforce sector, with particular emphasis on technical and vocational skills development.

The State Minister also stressed the importance of women’s economic empowerment and called for greater promotion of Bangladesh’s creative industries, handicrafts and diversified jute products in the audi market.

The SABCCI delegation reiterated its commitment to strengthening bilateral economic cooperation and fostering new opportunities for businesses in both countries.
