The Right to Peace Foundation, a registered NGO successfully organized the World Youth Skills Day Conference 2026, held in observance of the United Nations mandated on World Youth Skills Day, under the theme “Youth Empowerment for a Sustainable Future in Bangladesh.” The event took place at the Esfandiar Zahed Hasan Auditorium, Bishwo Shahitto Kendra and brought together policymakers.
academicians, researchers and civil society representatives from across the country.
For the past nine consecutive years, the Right to Peace Foundation has been working for youth empowerment and skills advancement in Bangladesh.
As the keynote speaker Professor Dr. Saber Ahmed Chowdhury, Honorary Chairman of the Right to Peace Foundation, mentioned how Bangladeshi youth are being prepared to navigate the challenges and opportunities of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
Followed by, Mohammed Main Uddin, Assistant Professor, Department of Peace, Conflict and Human Rights, BUP, presented another paper titled “Structural Barriers to Transformative Competency in Public Schools of Bangladesh.”
The Chief Guest of the program, A. S. M. Abdul Halim, Former Cabinet Secretary and Chairman of Bangladesh House building Finance Corporation, encouraged the youth to acquire new and relevant skills and underscored the importance of engaging in dignified careers of home and abroad.
Special Guest Major General Abu Naser Md. Elias (Retd.) spoke on the need to enhance youth skill development and urged young people to take the initiative to improve themselves with the support of government assistance programs.
S. M. Shaikat, Executive Director of SERAC-Bangladesh, was also present and offered pragmatic guidance to the youth, encouraging them to look beyond traditional employment pathways.
The conference was further graced by the presence of Mohammed Gias Uddin from Save the Children, along with the Executive Committee Members from the Right to Peace Foundation, A K M Jawadul Haque, Sufia Khanom, Atikur Rahman and Zarif Rahman .
Hura Jannat, a professional psychologist and General Secretary of the Right to Peace Foundation, shared valuable insights on the importance of mental well-being among the youth.
Several participants presented research papers and received certificates in recognition to their contribution.
The program was anchored by Marzana, Bushra, Radia and Rosemary. Wile the overall event organization was carried out by R2P volunteers Maisha, Sumaiya, Tanjim, Jony, Sezan, A. Shamsher, A. Hossain, and Taseen .
The Right to Peace Foundation reaffirmed its continued commitment to promoting evidence based research and youth centered dialogue for youth empowerment and as a foundation for sound policy decisions in Bangladesh.
