



At least 10 people suffered burn injuries after an air conditioner exploded at a salon in the Alu Bazar area of Bangshal in the capital early Wednesday.
The injured, including salon employees and customers, were taken to the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery around 1:30am for treatment.
The injured were identified as salon employees Shamsed, 30, Raju, 34, Pappu, 26, Arman, 37, and Shakib, 17, along with customers Faruk, 35, Rinku, 30, Rony, 36, Jasim, 40, and Rafik, 25.
Resident physician of the Burn Institute Dr Shawon Bin Rahman said all 10 victims were brought to the hospital with burn injuries caused by the incident.
Among them, Faruk sustained 50 percent burns, the highest among the victims.
Rinku suffered 21 percent burns, while Raju and Pappu each sustained 18 percent burns.
Shamsed and Arman suffered 15 percent burns each, Rafik 12 percent, Rony 10 percent, Jasim 8 percent, and Shakib 1 percent.
Dr Shawon said nine victims were admitted to the institute for treatment, while Shakib was kept under observation at the emergency department as his injuries were minor.
