



Bangladeshi-born chef Nazim Khan has been inducted into the American Academy of Chefs (AAC), one of the culinary profession’s highest honours, recognising his 33-year career in the United States and contributions to culinary education and service.
Nazim Khan, who moved to the United States from Bangladesh in September 1992 as an international student, received the prestigious recognition after building a distinguished career in the global culinary industry through dedication, perseverance and professional excellence.
Currently serving as Executive Chef at Bryan Health in the United States, Nazim Khan also mentors future hospitality professionals at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He has earned the titles of Worldchefs Certified Master Chef (WCMC) and Certified Executive Chef (CEC).
Over the years, he has remained actively involved with international culinary organisations, working with chefs worldwide through Worldchefs and the Bangladesh Culinary Foundation.
Reflecting on his achievement, Nazim Khan said the United States provided him with opportunities that transformed his life and helped him establish himself in culinary arts, education and community service.
He said the honour was not only a personal milestone but also the result of support from his family, colleagues, teachers, students, friends and well-wishers.
Nazim Khan expressed special gratitude to his wife, Shampa, for her continuous support throughout his journey. He also thanked the American Culinary Federation (ACF), Worldchefs, the Bangladesh Culinary Foundation and the mentors and peers who guided him during his professional career.
Recalling his 33-year journey as an immigrant in the United States, Nazim Khan said he remained grateful for the opportunities he received and wanted to continue supporting the next generation of chefs.
“As an immigrant with big dreams, I am grateful for the opportunities I have been given. In the future I want to continue mentoring the next generation of chefs and building bridges between people of different cultures through food,” he said.
Nazim Khan’s induction into the American Academy of Chefs marks another milestone in his long career, highlighting the growing contribution of Bangladeshi professionals to the international culinary sector.
