5 Indian cattle seized in Dimla

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized five ownerless Indian cattle during an anti-smuggling operation in the Teesta River char area along the border in Dimla upazila of Nilphamari.

The cattle were recovered from inside Bangladeshi territory near the Teesta River char in the Jharsingheshwar area during the early hours of Tuesday.
Brigadier General A.S.M. Naser, Commander of the BGB North-West Rangpur Region, confirmed the incident.

According to BGB sources, a patrol team from Kaliganj Border Outpost (BOP) conducted the operation as part of regular and special anti-smuggling patrols in the border area.

During the drive, the team found five ownerless Indian cattle grazing inside Bangladeshi territory in the Teesta River char and seized them.

Dimla Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md. Imranuzzaman said, “The administration and BGB are working in close coordination to strengthen border security and prevent smuggling. Similar operations will continue on a larger scale to bring the masterminds of smuggling syndicates to justice.”

BGB said legal procedures regarding the seized cattle are currently underway.
