3 killed in Baraigram road mishap

Three people were killed and two others injured after an easy bike collided with a truck in Baraigram upazila of Natore on Thursday.

The accident occurred at around 3:00 pm in the Rajapur College area on the Natore-Pabna highway.

According to local residents, the easy bike was travelling from Rajapur Bus Stand to Garmati with four passengers on board.

When it reached the Rajapur College area, it was hit by a Kushtia-bound truck (registration: Metro T-20-1626) coming from the opposite direction. The truck driver fled the scene after the collision.

The easy bike driver, Rantu, was killed on the spot, while the four passengers sustained serious injuries.

They were rescued and taken to a local hospital.
Two of the injured-Toilakko Biswas and Shipon-died on the way to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital.

Officer-in-Charge of Bonpara Highway Police Station Md Moniruzzaman said the truck has been seized and is in police custody.

The driver remains absconding, and efforts are underway to arrest him. A case is being prepared in connection with the incident.

The driver, Rantu (28), was the son of Tofez Uddin of Garmati village in the upazila. Shipon (24) was also a resident of Garmati village, while Toilakko Biswas (27) hailed from Pargopalpur village.

The two injured survivors, Sijan and Al Amin, are undergoing treatment at a local hospital.
