89 shopkeepers fined in N’ganj

A total of 89 shops were fined Tk 44,500 for operating without trade licences in Araihazar Municipality of Narayanganj. A mobile court conducted a drive at various markets in the municipal area on Monday imposing a fine of Tk 500 on each shop.

Araihazar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Mohammad Asadur Rahman led the operation.

Araihazar Municipality Executive Officer Kazi Mohammad Mostafa Kamal, Licence Inspector Md Suman Mia, Tax Collector Md Hanif Shikder, Assistant Tax Assessor Md Omar Faruk and other municipal officials and employees were present during the drive.

According to municipal authorities, 26 shops at Mitra Plaza, 23 at Abdul Kadir Super Market and 40 at Habib Super Market were found operating without trade licences.

The mobile court fined each of the 89 shops Tk 500 and gave the traders two days to obtain their trade licences.
