



A man was arrested with 100 grams of heroin, worth approximately Tk 1 million, during a special anti-narcotics operation aboard the Dhumketu Express, a train travelling from Rajshahi to Dhaka.
The operation was conducted by a team from the Detective Branch (DB) of the Pakshi Railway District Police.
According to police, acting on confidential information and under the direction of Pakshi Railway District Superintendent of Police Md. Mehedi Hasan, the DB team carried out the special anti-drug operation late on Wednesday night (July 1).
When the train reached Harian Railway Station, officers received information that a passenger standing in the corridor of coach (Jh) was carrying narcotics, said in a press release. The DB team immediately reached the spot and, with the assistance of fellow passengers, detained the suspect, identified as Md. Jahangir Alam, 40. In the presence of witnesses, the officers searched him and recovered 100 grams of heroin from his possession.
The seized heroin was confiscated and a seizure list was prepared in the presence of witnesses in accordance with the prescribed legal procedures.
A case was filed with Rajshahi Railway Police Station under Section 36(1), 8(c) of the Narcotics Control Act, 2018, on Thursday. The arrested man was produced before the competent court for further legal proceedings.
