Mortuza Palash, hero of Apu Biswas’s film ‘Shikar’, arrested in murder case

Ali Mortuza Palash, hero of the new film starring Apu Biswas, has been arrested in a murder case during the 2024 anti-discrimination student movement.

Mortuza has been sent to prison on the orders of the court. As a result, the first film of the Palash-Apu duo, ‘Shikar’, faces uncertainty.

The shooting of the movie ‘Shikar’ began in Nepal in August. The ‘Shikar’ team shot for more than 25 days.

After the flash floods in Nepal, they returned to the country on August 28. On that day, the police arrested Mortuza Palash from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport. However, the arrest of Palash has not been made public until now.

Recently, news was reported in the media that Palash is the accused in the Parvez Bepari murder case during the anti-discrimination student movement. It is learned that after his arrest, Palash was taken on a one-day remand by the CID.

After the remand on September 14, the CID told the court that important information about the murder was obtained from Palash. In addition, he also knows about other absconding accused.

The CMM court in Dhaka ordered Palash to be detained in prison in this incident. Meanwhile, director Kamruzzaman Roman had planned to shoot the remaining parts of ‘Shikar’ in October.

However, with Mortuza Palash in prison, there is uncertainty about the future of the movie.

The director is uncertain about the shooting of the remaining parts and the release of the movie.

In this context, director Roman said, “Most of the shooting of the movie ‘Shikar’ has been completed in Nepal.

Three scenes and one song scene are left. The plan was to shoot these scenes next October.

But since the hero is in prison, the final schedule cannot be made yet. I have learned that he is dealing with the matter legally.

The production company hopes that he will be released soon. If that does not happen, then there is no choice but to wait.”

It is known that Palash is also involved in the production of ‘Shikar’ in addition to acting.

Although he did not say anything about it, the director said that most of the artistes have been paid.

However, the producer and technicians are still owed their salaries; which are supposed to be paid after the completion of the movie.

The movie is being produced under the banner of the production company Reza Films.

The screenplay of the thriller film ‘Shikar’, set in the border area, is written by Abdullah Zahir Babu.

Apart from Palash and Apu Biswas, the film also stars Mahmudul Islam Mithu, Sumon Anwar, West Bengal’s Kharaj Mukherjee, Rajatav Dutta, Shyam Bhattacharya and many others.
