Rangpur district council approves 167 projects

Rangpur District Council distributed allocation letters for 167 development projects to be implemented across various upazilas under the Annual Development Programme (ADP) for the 2025-26 fiscal year on Wednesday.

Allocation letters for Project Implementation Committee (PIC) projects, involving funds amounting to Tk 2.09 crore, were distributed at a ceremony held in the conference room of the Rangpur District Council.

District Council Administrator Saiful Islam attended the event as the chief guest and handed over the allocation letters.

The programme was presided over by District Council Chief Executive Officer Mamun Or Rashid. Among those present were Emdadul Haque Bhorsa, a member of the Rangpur District BNP Convening Committee, leaders of various upazila BNP units, and representatives of mosques, temples, madrasas, and other institutions selected to implement the projects.

Speaking at the event, Saiful Islam said the projects would play a significant role in the development of Rangpur. He claimed that corruption had occurred in similar projects in the past but said the current administration was committed to ensuring transparency and accountability.

“We have left corruption behind and are moving forward with transparency. Alongside development work, we are planting trees, supporting helpless and underprivileged people through various welfare initiatives, and working for the welfare of all. We want to build a prosperous Bangladesh,” he said.

Chief Executive Officer Mamun Or Rashid urged beneficiaries and stakeholders to report any irregularities in project implementation.

“If any of our officials are involved in irregularities or misconduct during project implementation, please inform me immediately.

If prompt action is not taken, you may report the matter directly to the Administrator. We expect everyone involved in the projects to maintain transparency and accountability,” he said.
