11-year old’s body found in Sangu River

Bandarban The body of an 11-year-old boy, Md. Arefin, was recovered five days after he went missing in the Sangu River in Bandarban.

Local residents recovered the body from the Sangu River near the mouth of Pinechhara in Bandarban municipality on Wednesday (June 24).

According to local residents, Arefin went to the bank of the Sangu River to wash his hands and face after playing with friends at around 5:30 p.m. on Friday (June 19).

He reportedly slipped and fell into the river and was swept away by the strong current.

Arefin was the son of businessman Md. Enam Saudagar of Balaghata Bazar.

Following the incident, divers from the Fire Service, family members, local residents, and various volunteer groups conducted extensive search operations.

but no trace of the boy was found.
