KMP DB arrests five ‘B Company’ members

Members of the Detective Branch (DB) of Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP) have arrested five alleged members of the notorious “B Company” criminal group during coordinated raids in different areas of Dhaka, recovering firearms and ammunition from their possession.

According to KMP, the arrests were made as part of an ongoing special drive launched at the beginning of the month against identified criminals, armed offenders and drug traffickers amid concerns over a recent rise in gang activities in Khulna city.

The arrestees were identified as Abrar Faisal alias Rafin, Al-Amin, Tushar Shikdar, Asif and Sajjad Hossain Sabbir. During the operation, police recovered a foreign-made pistol, a revolver, a pistol magazine and two rounds of 7.65-bore live ammunition.

The arrests and seizure of the firearms were disclosed at a press briefing held by Deputy Commissioner (DB) of KMP Mohammad Ahaduzzaman Mia at his Khalishpur office at around 12:30 pm on Monday.

DC (DB) Mohammad Ahaduzzaman Mia claimed that the suspects are active members of the alleged “B Company” and other criminal groups operating in Khulna.

They are accused in multiple cases involving murder, illegal arms possession, narcotics trafficking, extortion and other serious offences.

KMP said legal proceedings are underway under the relevant laws.

Interrogation of the suspects has reportedly yielded information about other active criminal networks, their associates and sources of weapons.

The metropolitan police reiterated their commitment to continuing operations against armed criminals, extortionists, drug dealers and other listed offenders to ensure public safety and maintain law and order in the city.
