



Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized a large quantity of narcotics worth approximately Tk 70.35 lakh and arrested two smugglers in two separate operations in Shibganj.
According to a press release from the 59 Mahendranagar Battalion BGB, acting on a tip-off, a patrol team from Sonamasjid BOP conducted an operation on Tuesday (June 16) around 10:00 pm near border pillar 185/15, about 150 yards inside Bangladesh in the Baliadighi area of Shahbazpur Union. During the operation, they searched a truck (No. 209990) and recovered 2,085 bottles of Indian SKF intoxicating syrup.
The truck and a mobile phone were also seized, and Riyad (20), son of Alamgir Hossain from Pashapur village under Pasapasha Union of Laksham Police Station in Cumilla district.
was arrested. The estimated value of the seized syrup is Tk 68,34,500.
In another operation on the same day around 9:30 pm, a BGB patrol team from Chouka BOP conducted a raid near border pillar 177/3-S, about four kilometers inside Bangladesh in the Khaserhat Bazar area of Binodpur Union. They arrested Naeem Hossain (18), son of Mamtal Ali from Jaminpur village of the same union, with 585 pieces of Indian yaba tablets. The estimated value of the seized drugs is Tk 2,00,500.
In total, the seized narcotics, truck, and mobile phone are worth approximately Tk 70,35,000.
Two cases have been filed at Shibganj Police Station, and the arrested individuals have been sent to jail in connection with smuggling charges.
