Arrest corrupt officials instantly, says Putul
Social Welfare State Minister Barrister Farzana Sharmin Putul has directed authorities to arrest anyone involved in corruption in development projects without delay, saying that no one-regardless of political affiliation-will be spared if found guilty of misappropriating public funds.
Speaking as the chief guest at a programme in Lalpur upazila of Natore on Friday, Social Welfare State Minister Barrister Farzana Sharmin Puthul said corruption in development activities must be stopped at all costs to ensure that public welfare funds directly benefit citizens.
“If anyone is involved in corruption in development works such as road construction, bridges or culverts, arrest them immediately. Even if they are from my party, they must not be spared,” she said.
The minister said the government has allocated significant resources in the current budget to improve people’s living standards, adding that proper implementation would ensure better livelihoods, employment opportunities and improved living conditions.
She made the remarks while distributing cash assistance, sewing machines, rice and wheelchairs among disadvantaged people, as well as handing certificates to students participating in startup, science projects and innovation programmes.
The event was held at the Lalpur Upazila Parishad auditorium with Upazila Nirbahi Officer Barkat Ullah in the chair.
Among others, Upazila Education Officer Wazed Ali Mirdha and former BNP member secretary Harunur Rashid Pappu also spoke at the programme.
