Govt employees to get welfare board support

Government officials and employees can receive financial assistance from the Bangladesh Employees Welfare Board for medical treatment, children’s education, burial and funeral expenses, among other purposes, said Divisional Commissioner Md Abdullah Harun.

Divisional Commissioner Md Abdullah Harun attended the programme as the chief guest at a workshop held at the Khulna Divisional Commissioner’s Office on Saturday.

The workshop aimed to raise awareness about the services of the Bangladesh Employees Welfare Board and promote good governance through stakeholder participation.

He said the application process has become much easier than before, as services are now available online without unnecessary complications.

“I personally applied and received financial assistance without facing any difficulties,” he said, adding that a maximum grant of Tk 300,000 is being provided for critical illnesses.

He also said the Bangladesh Employees Welfare Board has been working for the welfare of government employees and urged officials to ensure that the services reach all levels.

Additional Divisional Commissioner (Revenue) Sifat Mehnaz, Additional Divisional Commissioner (General) Abu Sayed Md Monjur Alam, and Deputy Police Commissioner of KMP MM Shakiluzzaman spoke as special guests at the event.

The workshop was chaired by Md Shahinuzzaman, director of the Khulna Divisional Office of the Bangladesh Employees Welfare Board. Md Jamirul Islam, director (Administration) of the board’s headquarters, presented the keynote paper.

The workshop was organized by the Khulna Divisional Office of the Bangladesh Employees Welfare Board and attended by officials from various government departments.
