The Bangladesh Meteorological Department has warned of temporary gusty or squally winds reaching 45 to 60 kilometres per hour in 12 regions, accompanied by rain or thunderstorms.

The warning was issued in the inland river-port forecast valid from 4:30am to 1pm on Friday (September 4).

According to the forecast, winds from the south or southeast may sweep through Rajshahi, Rangpur, Bogura, Tangail, Mymensingh, Khulna, Barishal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Cumilla, Chattogram and Cox’s Bazar at speeds of 45 to 60 kilometres per hour.

The gusty or squally winds may occur temporarily along with rain or thunderstorms, prompting the weather office to advise the river ports in these regions to hoist cautionary signal No. 1.

Meanwhile, the forecast for Dhaka and adjoining areas from 7am for the following six hours says the sky may remain cloudy to overcast, with rain and thunderstorms likely.

Winds may blow from the south or southeast at 10 to 15 kilometres per hour during the period.
