CCCI inks deal with Custom House, Ctg

The Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) signed an agreement with the Customs House, Chattogram on Tuesday at the Conference Hall of the World Trade Center to lease 156,600 square feet of office space and 8,000 square feet of garage space.

On behalf of the chamber, Chamber Administrator and Additional Divisional Commissioner (General) of Chattogram Md. Motahar Hossain and Commissioner of Customs, Chattogram Md. Shafi Uddin signed the agreement.

The Customs House, Chattogram will operate from the World Trade Center starting July 1.

The Chamber Administrator Md. Motahar Hossain presided over the meeting, while former president of the chamber and honorary consul of Thailand Amir Humayun Mahmud Chowdhury, Commissioner of Customs, Chattogram Md. Shafi Uddin, and Commissioner of Customs, Excise and VAT Commissionerate Sheikh Abu Faisal Md. Murad also spoke.

The programme was hosted by Joint Secretary of the chamber Nurul Absar Chowdhury.

It is worth noting that the Customs House, Chattogram will conduct its official activities from the World Trade Center until a new building is constructed with funding from the World Bank.

The country’s first and only World Trade Center is a member of the New York-based World Trade Centers Association.

The 24-storey building, built in a modern architectural style, has an area of about 700,000 square feet.
