Mayor’s strong message to speed up dev work at Biplob Udyan
Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) Mayor Dr. Shahadat Hossain inspected the progress of the ongoing beautification work at Biplob Udyan, a garden dedicated to the memory of martyred President Ziaur Rahman, located at Gate No. 2 area of Chattogram city.
During the inspection, he reviewed the overall progress of the project and gave strict instructions to the concerned contracting company to complete the work within the stipulated time frame.
At the same time, he also emphasized on maintaining the quality of the work.
At that time, it was alleged by the contracting company that some shop owners in the vicinity were obstructing the development work, due to which the pace of the work was being hampered and uncertainty was being created about completing the project within the stipulated time frame.
In view of the complaint, Mayor Dr. Shahadat Hossain expressed his anger and said, “The development work of the city cannot be held hostage to any personal interest.
Biplob Udyan is not just a park, it is a part of our history and memory.
If anyone obstructs the ongoing development work here, it will not be tolerated in any way.”
He further said, “Those who are deliberately creating obstacles in the work will be taken legal punitive action.
If necessary, strict administrative action including eviction will be taken. No one has the opportunity to stop the development work.”
He also directed the concerned officials and employees to move forward the work quickly through coordination and called for strengthening regular supervision.
It is worth noting that under the ongoing beautification project in the Revolutionary Park, work is underway to develop modern infrastructure, greenery, walking paths, seating arrangements and various facilities for visitors.
If the project is implemented, it is expected to develop into an attractive entertainment center for the city residents.
