4 killed in lightning at Chuadanga, Jhenaidah, Jashore

Four people were killed in separate incidents of lightning strikes in Chuadanga, Jashore and Jhenaidah districts on Thursday.

In Chuadanga, two people including a schoolboy were killed in separate incidents of lightning strikes in Jibannagar and Damurhuda upazilas of Chuadanga district on Thursday, reports UNB.

In Jibannagar upazila, Russel Hosain, 25, son of Rezaul Hossain of Ghoshnagar village, fell unconscious when a thunderbolt struck on him while working at a field at noon.

Later, he was taken to Jibannagar Upazila Health Complex where the doctors declared him dead, said Solaiman Sheikh, officer-in-charge of Jibannagar Police Station.

In Damurhuda upazila, Ajimuddin, 15, a class IX student of Darshana Memnagar BD Secondary High School and son of Tajimul Islam of Parkrishnapur village, was killed when a streak of thunderbolt struck him while heading towards his father to provide food in the afternoon, said Mehedi Hasan, officer-in-charge of Darshana Police Station.

In Jhenaidah, a 32-year-old housewife was killed when a thunderbolt struck her while she was working in the yard amid rain at Bathangachi village in Maheshpur upazila of the district, said Mehedi Hasan, officer-in-charge of Maheshpur Police Station.

The deceased was identified as Rozina Khatun, wife of Mizanur Rahman of the village.

In Jashore, a 68-year-old farmer was killed when a streak of thunderbolt struck him when returning to his home from filed at Shahapur village in Manirampur upazila of Jashore district.
The deceased was identified as Lutfur Sardar.
