Chhatra Dal leaderless 10 months after panel suspension
After a long wait of seven years, a committee was finally formed-but it was suspended within just 20 days. Since then, 10 months have passed, leaving Kishoreganj District Chhatra Dal effectively leaderless. Observers believe this stagnation is not only an organizational crisis but is also affecting broader political dynamics.
Since 2018, the organization had already weakened due to the absence of a functional committee. In an effort to fill that vacuum, the central Chhatra Dal approved a partial committee on May 15, 2025, appointing Shariful Islam Nishad as President and Redowan Rahman Waqiur as General Secretary. Grassroots leaders and activists had hoped for a revival under the new leadership, but that hope quickly faded.
Just 20 days after the announcement, on June 4, 2025, the central Chhatra Dal issued a notice suspending the committee’s activities. No explanation has been provided since, nor has a new committee been formed. As a result, the organizational chain of command has completely broken down.
