6 Bogura shops fined over soybean oil irregularities

A joint enforcement drive at Rajabazar in Bogura resulted in fines imposed on six business establishments for irregularities in the sale of soybean oil.

The operation was conducted by the Consumer Affairs Department in coordination with RAB-12, Bogura, and the district police.

Led by Md. Mehedi Hasan, Assistant Director of the Consumer Affairs Department, the drive inspected market conditions focusing on the availability of soybean oil, display of price lists, maintenance of purchase and sales vouchers, and compliance with government-fixed prices.

During the drive, four establishments were fined Tk 10,000 in total for failing to update price lists. M/s AK Traders was fined Tk 5,000 for not preserving purchase and sale vouchers, while M/s Mandal Traders received a Tk 20,000 fine for selling bottled soybean oil at prices higher than the government-set rate.

Officials urged traders to help maintain market stability by avoiding stockpiling soybean oil and ensuring strict compliance with government pricing regulations.

They also stressed the importance of maintaining proper documentation of transactions to ensure transparency and accountability.
