BD-HK 5th-place-decider match today

Bangladesh Hockey team will face Hong Kong (HK) Hockey team in the fifth-place-decider match of the Asian Games Hockey Qualifier today at Bangkok in Thailand.

The match will start at 10:30am.
If Bangladesh can win in the match, Bangladesh will qualify for the Asian Games Hockey Competition scheduled to be held in Japan.

On the other hand, if Hong Kong can register victory in today’s match, Hong Kong will get tickets of the Asian Games Hockey Competition.

If Bangladesh taste defeat in today’s match, Bangladesh have to wait for another place-deciding match and the match will be must-win match for Bangladesh to enter the final phase of Asian Games Hockey.
A total of nine teams dividing into two groups are taking part in the Asian Games Hockey Qualifier.

Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Uzbekistan, Chinese Taipei were in Pool-B, while Oman, Indonesia, Thailand, Hong Kong and Kazakhstan were in Pool-A.

Sri Lanka, Uzbekistan have reached the semi-finals from Pool-B and they confirmed their berth in upcoming Asian Games Hockey.

Oman, Indonesia have entered the semi-finals from Pool-A and they also confirmed their berth in forthcoming Asian Games Hockey.

It may be mentioned that Bangladesh and Uzbekistan collected four points each from three matches. But by virtue of better goal difference, Uzbekistan became runners-up in the Pool-B. Bangladesh finished third in the Pool-B and Bangladesh are bound to play place-deciding matches.

According to the Asian Hockey Federation, 12 teams will participate in Asian Games Hockey in Aichi Nagoya, Japan in September.

Along with the hosts Japan, India, Pakistan, Malaysia, South Korea and China will play directly as they are ahead in the rankings. The remaining 6 teams will play from the Asian Games Hockey Qualifier.
