Bangladesh’s AFC Asian Cup mission begins today

The Women’s Asian Cup U-20 qualifiers begin today. Bangladesh U-20 women’s national team will start their campaign against host Thailand in the opening group A match scheduled to be held at Thammasat Stadium in Bangkok today.
The match kicks off at 7 pm BST.

Head Coach Peter Butler said the continental showpiece would be a wonderful learning experience for his team, who prepared via a two-week training camp.

“Our team here is a combination of the seniors that competed at the recent AFC Women’s Asian Cup Australia 2026™ and new players, and our experience in Australia will stand us in good stead,” he said.

“I have always emphasised that the players be the best version of themselves and be authentic because AFC tournaments are always played at a whole new level compared to the rest.

“We hope to give a good account here, be competitive and take something back from this prestigious tournament.”

Ahead of their opening match against Thailand, Bangladesh successfully completed their third and final official training session at Alpine training camp (Pitch 2), according to a message received here from Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) on Tuesday.

Head Coach of Tahiland U-20 women’s national team Nuengrutai Srathongvian said,”We have trained and prepared well at the venues for this tournament and are at our best.”

“We have had a lot of training camps, have home ground advantage, have selected only the best players and are ready for the competition.”

Bangladesh U-20 women’s national team, which pitted in group A along with host Thailand, China and Vietnam, will play their remaining group matches against China and Vietnam on April 4 and 7.
