Journo Anis Alamgir gets bail

The High Court (HC) on Thursday granted bail to journalist Anis Alamgir in a case filed under the Anti-Terrorism Act with Uttara West Police Station in Dhaka.

A High Court Division Bench comprising Justice K M Zahid Sarwar and Justice Sheikh Abu Taher passed the order following a hearing on the bail petition filed by Advocate Tamanna Ferdous.

Earlier, Anis Alamgir was taken into Detective Branch (DB) custody on December 14, 2025, and formally shown arrested in the case a few hours later.

However, on January 22, the Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge’s Court rejected journalist Anis Alamgir’s bail plea.

He has been in jail since December last year in connection with the Anti-Terrorism Act case filed with the Uttara West police station in the capital.
