The Bengali language thriller film ‘Chhledhora’ is going to be made as a joint production of India and the United States. West Bengal actress Swastika Mukherjee is playing the lead role ‘Brishti’ in the film. The shooting will begin from March 1 in Itanagar and Zero Valley in Arunachal Pradesh. The film is written and directed by Shiladitya Maulik. ‘Chhledhora’ has that emotional human narrative, but this time it is added with a touch of thriller and dark humour. The central character of the film ‘Ek Mae Galo’ is Brishti-a divorced woman. In the eyes of society, she is a ‘problematic’, ‘misunderstood’ person. In an emotional moment, she ‘steals’ her daughter to celebrate her birthday. But in the end, the girl is really kidnapped. Then an unexpected discovery pushes Brishti’s life towards a terrible uncertainty. An adventurous journey begins, which makes her face herself.
Director Shiladitya Maulik said, ‘It is the story of broken parents, who rediscover the courage and selfless love hidden within themselves. The film will look like a road-journey, with many unexpected turns. But at heart it is a story of recovery and second chances.’ He added that the film is being made keeping in mind the international film festival.
‘Childhood’ is an India-US joint production. The film is being produced by India’s Handyman and Sita22 Films. Handyman’s Pratik Majumdar says, “The script has both emotional depth and commercial momentum. Since the swastika was included in the beginning, we knew it was going to be something special.”
